Vine for Windows Phone Update Brings Camera Roll Uploading Support

Vine for Windows Phone has been out since November 2013 and aside from a few very minor updates has remained virtually untouched.  It was, until today, a classic example of there been an app update gap for Windows Phone when you compare it to other platforms.  Today a new build, version 2.5 for those keeping score at home, has hit the Windows Phone store and it is a significant improvement over the previous version.  The biggest feature by far in this update is the ability to upload previously shot videos from your camera roll.  This means you can now, finally, shoot a video now then Vine it to Twitter later.

Now in Vine you can go to your camera roll and preview a video of any length, trim it down to 6 seconds or less and then upload it to Twitter via Vine.  Further, you can mix and match different pieces form different videos for your post.

Other improvements in this update to Vine for Windows Phone includes the ability to send private videos and texts back and forth with friends and also you can customize your profile colors.

The Activity section of the app has also been updated to now show you account milestones such as loop counts, likes, new follows and the like.  There are also more visual and concise notifications of activities on Vine and a new notification to let you know when a friend joins Vine so you can start following them.

Vine is a free app and available now in the Windows Phone Store.
