Weather Channel App Improves Local Ski Information

The Weather Channel has updated their app for Android phones today, bringing with it a much improved ski resort and ski area report to the app.  The updated build is version is 6.2 for those keeping score at home and this improved ski information is only on the phone app.  The tablet version was also updated (5.2) but it doesn’t contain the ski information.

As before, when you scroll down to the bottom of the app on your phone, you will see ski information for your area.  Now you have the option to tap the All Resorts link and you will get a list of resorts in the area you are viewing (in my case Denver).

On the report you will get the resort area and the amount of snow that has fallen in the past 24 hours.  You will also see the number of lifts that are open at that location.  If you tap on a resort, you will be able to get further

information about the conditions such as the base depth, the snow type (machine groomed for example), the number of lifts and trails open, and the forecast for the amount of snow expected over the next 5 days.

While you won’t find a complete list of every resort in your area, you will get a good chunk of them.  The nice thing is, you won’t have to necessarily go to another app to get this information which is a time saver for sure.

If you have the Weather Channel app installed on your phone, you should get the OTA update in the next few days.
