Acer Liquid Jade 2 To Have 1TB of Hybrid Cloud Storage

AT Mobile World Congress today, Acer announced the Liquid Jade 2, a well appointed device that will be running the Snapdragon 808 processor, have 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 21MP camera.  But the really interesting part of the device is what the company is calling hybrid cloud storage.  The Liquid Jade 2 will comes with 1TB of such storage that the company states will “seamlessly integrate” with the device.  How exactly that integration will work is not 100% clear but it sounds strikingly similar on the surface at least to that of Nextbit and their new smartphone, Robin.

In the case of the Robin, you have 100GB of cloud storage where the phone will seamlessly remove apps and appropriate data from your phone and then have them available to you again with one tap on the grayed out icon.  If Acer is going to be doing the same thing, the cloud storage war for phones just took a huge step given that they will be offering 10 times the amount of free storage over Nextbit.

As for the specs, here is what is known about the Liquid Jade 2 at this point:

  • 5.5″ Full HD AMOLED Display
  • Snapdrago 808 Processor
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 32GB Storage with 1TB of hybrid cloud storage
  • 21MP dual-LED flash rear camera capable of 4K video recording.  8MP front camera
  • Android Marshmallow

As far as pricing is concerned, this should be in the mid-range of prices ($200-400) but that has not been announced yet.  It is also unclear what regions the phone will come to when it is released.
