HTC Desire 626s on Sprint Receives Its Marshmallow Update

For those of you who are on the Sprint network with the HTC Desire 626s, today is a good day!  HTC has announced that the Android Marshmallow update is rolling out to the mid-range phone starting today.  The update will take the phone from Android Lollipop 5.1 up to Marshmallow 6.0 and brings all of the goodies that comes with the latest major build of Android.  The update is a big one at just around 1GB so you will need to download it via Wi-Fi and once you start the install process, it will take about 20-30 minutes to complete it.

Sprint, like T-Mobile, has been doing a pretty good job as of late in getting Marshmallow out to their devices.  While the 626s’ release is some 8 months after Marshmallow was unleashed, given

this is very much a mid-range device and not a flagship, the delay isn’t completely a surprise.  BUT, this mid-range phone is getting the update which, when you compare it to other carriers, has not always been the case.

One really nice feature of Marshmallow that Sprint is keeping alive on the Desire 626s is Adaptable Storage.  This feature allows you to use a memory card and set it up so that it looks like internal memory to your phone.  Some carriers and manufactures have disabled this saying it is confusing for consumers because once you do this, you really can’t remove the storage card.  Sprint however has enabled it on this phone which is great considering it comes stock with 8GB of storage.

Look for the update to hit your phone over the course of the next few days
