HTC U11 Life Specs and Availability

Today, HTC has announced the new HTC U11 Life, their mid-range Android phone that is also part of the Android One program (outside of the US).  The phone is a well appointed device for its $349 price tag and you can order it now on the HTC site.

The U11 Life is a 5.2″ Super LCD display device that renders 1920 x 1080 to give you a very comfortable ~424ppi.  That display is also protected by Gorilla Glass 3.  It comes with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage with up to a 2TB thanks to the MicroSD slot.  All of this is powered by the Snapdragon 630 octa-core SoC.  Quick Charge 3.0 is supported via the USB-C charging port and the battery is a 2600mAh model.

Camera wise, both the rear and selfie cameras are 16MP shooters and both are f/2.0 aperture.  The rear camera has PDAF.

Rounding out the HTC U11 Life, is Bluetooth 5.0 support, USonic Active Noice Cancellation audio, HDR audio and IP67 rated water and dust resistance.

Here in the US, there are two variants sold.  The T-Mobile locked model and an unlocked model.  Both phones are the same $349 so I’d recommend getting the unlocked variant.  The phone will only work with GSM carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T.  It does not support CDMA.  Here are the bands that are available in the unlocked variant:

  • GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100
  • LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 12(700), 13(700), 17(700), 20(800), 28(700), 66(1700/2100)

Finally, while the Android One version of the HTC U11 Life will ship with Android Oreo, the US version will ship with Nougat 7.1.  HTC has indicated however that an Oreo update will be out this month.
