Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8 Variants Finally Getting Their Oreo Update

Here in the US, the Samsung Galaxy S8 has been updated to Android Oreo on AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint over the course of the past few weeks.  Now the unlocked variants, which usually get these big updates first, have finally started receiving their Oreo treatment.

The new build is about 1.5GB in size all in so you will certainly want to download it via WiFi.  Once you do have it downloaded, it will take about 15 minutes to install and will require a reboot.  Then you will have your Oreo goodness along with some improvements to the Samsung goodies on your S8 or S8+

App Pair is a feature that allows you to add an app to your Home screen that, when tapped, will launch two apps at the same time.  Dual Messenger is a feature that allows you to use two accounts for the same messaging app.  There is also a new high contrast keyboard option too.

With the unlocked variant of the phone not getting Oreo, pretty much the entire line of S8’s have been updated now.  The only hold outs are the S8 Active on Sprint and T-Mobile but that shouldn’t be much longer either.

The big improvement from a Samsung perspective is Samsung Experience 9, the new skin that overlays Oreo on Samsung devices.  This is the same experience on the new S9 lineup and recently started rolling out to the Note8 too.
