Microsoft Launcher for Android To Get Windows 10 Timeline Support

Over the course of the past couple of years it has been clear that Microsoft’s mobile strategy is developing apps for Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS.  This isn’t a bad strategy overall and it is clear from presentations this week at Build, Microsoft’s developer conference, that they are continuing that strategy.

One of the more exciting announcements on the first day of the conference is Windows 10’s new Timeline feature making it to both Android and iOS.  For Android users, access to Timeline will come via Microsoft Launcher while iOS users will have access to via Microsoft Edge.

For those who haven’t seen Timeline in Windows 10, it is a feature that allows you to quickly find a file that you have created in the last 30 days.  It is aimed to make it easier to find files instead of having to dumpster dive into Explorer and search around for it.  With this integration into Microsoft Launcher, you will have the ability to see your files via the Utilities page in the launcher while for iOS, you will see it as an option in the Edge browser.  Either way, it makes finding these files quicker while you are on your mobile device and not in front of your PC.

There is no word yet on when we will see this new feature launch but it will likely be a few months given that the Timeline feature just rolled out last month to Windows 10.
