Galaxy S7 Edge in Coral Blue Available for Pre-Order from AT&T

In all of the chaos surrounding Samsung at the minute, it would have been easy to miss that the South Korean company would be making a limited edition Blue Coral version of the Galaxy S7 Edge.  That color option will only be available in limited markets and fortunately, the United States courtesy of AT&T, will be one of them.  The carrier has added the Blue Coral option to their S7 Edge website, allowing customers or new to AT&T customers select the frankly stunningly beautiful muted blue phone.  While orders are being taken now, it won’t actually ship for another few weeks.  AT&T indicates that it will be shipping between November 18-22 this month.

Price wise, it is what you would expect for the flagship device from Samsung.  To buy it outright is $794.99 while you do have payment options thanks to the AT&T Next program.  For $26.50 per month you can use the Next program which is a 30 month payment option.  You can upgrade after you have paid 80% of the phone (roughly $635).  The AT&T Next Year program offers a 24 month upgrade plan which is $33.13 per month and you can upgrade after you have paid 50% of the value of the phone (roughly $397).

T-Mobile Rolls Out November Security Update to Galaxy S7 Lineup

With the Android Security Update for November expected to be released later today, it looks like T-Mobile is already getting it out to their customers.  If you have a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge on the carrier, there is an update out for you that brings the security patch up to this month.  T-Mobile has always been one of the better carriers when it comes to updates but with Samsung in particular, the manufacture has been slow to get updates out to carriers.  With the Galaxy S7 lineup, this seems to have changed as updates are coming at a far more consistent increment and much sooner after they are released from Google.

Today’s Deal – Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge 32GB for $569.99 on eBay

Today’s deal over at eBay is a great one for those looking at a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.  Right now you can pick up the phone with 32GB of built-in storage for $569.99.  That is a savings of some 37% and the phone is unlocked.  Right now the color options are gold and black so quantities are very much limited.  The even better news:  The Galaxy S7 Edge doesn’t have blow-up batteries. 🙂 (Sorry, couldn’t resist).

Specification wise, the Galaxy S7 Edge does not disappoint.  It comes with a quad-core 2.15 GHz on 2 cores and 1.6 GHz on the other two.  It has 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 32GB of storage with expansion up to an additional 200GB thanks to the MicroSD slot.  The S7 Edge has a 5.5″ Quad-HD Super AMOLED display that renders at 2560 x 1440 resolution and 534 PPI.  The rear camera is an impressive 12MP f/1.7 shooter with OIS while the front camera is a 5MP that is also f/1.7.

Verizon Rolls Out FM Radio Support for the Galaxy S7 Lineup

If have a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge on the Verizon network, there is a new software update waiting for you.  The new build of Android Marshmallow addresses some call quality issues as well as enabling the FM radio built into the device.  Specifically, you are looking for Verizon’s software version MMB29M.G935VVRU2APG5 for those keeping score at home and it is currently rolling out to customers.  You can manually check for the update by going to Settings>System Updates.  It is a small one as Verizon is allowing users to download it over LTE but you can expect about a 10 minute download and another 10-15 minutes to install and reboot your device.

Security Update Comes to The Galaxy S7 Lineup on T-Mobile

If you are on the T-Mobile network and have a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, you will want to check for a small but important security update that has been released by the carrier.  The update brings a security fix to the device although the details of exactly what was fixed is not explicitly laid out in the release notes.  It isn’t the May Android Security update as that came earlier in the month so this is a separate fix from that release.  On the Galaxy S7, you are looking for build G930TUVS3APD8 while on the S7 Edge, you will want to look for build G935TUVU3APD8.

AT&T Updating The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge With The May Marshmallow Update

Android Central is reporting that Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users on AT&T are starting to see the May Android security update come to their devices.  The update brings a handful of updates that I highlighted when it was released on the 2nd of this month but don’t expect to see any new major features with it.  Interestingly, the AT&T support pages for the S7 series has not been updated yet to reflect this update has been released.  Android Central users in their forums are reporting seeing the update on both devices.

T-Mobile Releases Volume Key Fix for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners on T-Mobile who have had an issue with the volume button on their devices, there is an update out for you that should resolve the problem from the carrier.  The update is coming to both devices as an OTA and you are looking for build G930TUVU2APD7 if you have a S7 and build G935TUVU2APD7 if you have a S7 Edge.  For those who haven’t run into the issues, you should still get this update on your device as soon as you can as it also contains security updates which will benefit all users.

Samsung Makes A Huge Leap in Phone Shipments to Start 2016

TrendForce has released their report for smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2016 and Samsung was dominant.  Out of 292 million phones shipped in the months of January through March of this year, 27.8% of those phones were Samsung devices.  That is up 5.7% over the fourth quarter of 2015 but the bigger news is the massive jump they took over second place Apple.  In Q4 of last year, they lead by just 1.2% in market share but in Q1 of 2016, that jumped to massive 13.4% increase in market share.
