Unboxing of the HTC Touch on Clinton Fitch (Dot) Com!
Unboxing of The HTC Touch
July 28, 2007
Late this week I received the new Touch from HTC to review! As a
reviewer, getting my hands on the Touch to review has been a challenge but
fortunately one has finally freed up for me to try out and review.
The packaging of the HTC Touch is sleek. While I would still give O2
the edge when it comes to slick marketing and packaging, HTC isn't far behind
for sure. Both the outside covering of the box and the internal box are
black, matching the Touch itself perfectly.

The inside box is held closed by a small magnet and once it opened, the ear
buds of the included headset are visible on each side of the Touch which sits in
the middle of the soft, closed cell packaging.

Note the sticker on the display screen of the Touch. It gives you a
quick visual lesson on how to use the new TouchFLO system on the Touch.
Obviously I'll cover that in more detail once I do the review but this one
sticker should give you a good idea of just how it works. Once you pull
the Touch from the packaging, the first surprise is seen: 1GB Kingston
MicroSD Card! Now I realize these cards are cheap but it is great to see
HTC include it with the device.
Once you lift the top foam layer out of the box, the other accessories that
come with the Touch are seen while the AC adapter and USB cable are hidden away
in the left-hand side flip out area.

You see that with the Touch comes a small slip case which is made of
neoprene. It is soft and while not necessarily providing much protection
from dropping, it does protect the screen on the Touch from scratches.

If you are not familiar with the specifications of the Touch, here is a quick
rundown:
Windows Mobile 6.0
128MB ROM (35MB User Accessible) / 64MB RAM (48MB User Accessible)
240x320 Transflective TFT display
TI OMAP 850 Processor running at 201MHz
The Touch itself is tiny! I love the look of it and the coating of the
chassis gives it a non-slip but nice tactile feel to it. This would be a
great phone to carry in your pocket - both from a size and weight perspective -
or for ladies in their handbags.

There you go - the HTC Touch unboxed! You will be able to read the full
review here at Clinton Fitch (Dot) Com! in the coming weeks so stay tuned!
