Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone Updated

Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone has been updated overnight with performance improvements and a new forwarding feature.  It is the latest update in the instant messaging application that is now across multiple platforms including Windows Phone, iOS and Android.  The update is available now in the Windows Phone Store.  The big new feature is the ability to forward messages to others.

The idea of forwarded messages is that you can have a conversation with someone and if you need to forward to someone who hasn’t been in that conversation.  All you do is tap-and-hold until you get the details menu and chose the option to forward.  You can then forward it to another friend on Facebook via the Messenger service.

Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone has also gotten a noticeable bump in speed with this release.  On my Lumia 1320 I’ve notice it launches and seems to update faster (not breakneck speed faster) than it did on the previous build.  Still, improvements are improvements and I’ll happily take them.

To use Messenger you will need to have a Facebook account and it, along with the Facebook and Facebook Messenger app are free in the Windows Phone Store.
