American Airlines App for Android Update Brings Android Wear Support

The American Airlines app for Android has received a nice update today that brings support for Android Wear devices.  Now once you have viewed your boarding pass within the app on your phone, you will have it available on your watch for quicker boarding of your flight.  It’s one of the latest apps to support Android Wear and one that busy travelers who have Wear devices will likely find quite, erm, handy.  For those keeping score at home, the updated version is 4.0.1 and it is available now in the Google Play Store.

American Airlines for Android – Free – Download Now

In order to get the boarding passes on your Android Wear device from the American Airlines app, you will need to make sure that the always-on feature on your wearable is enabled.  This is part of the Lollipop update that is currently rolling out to Wear devices so you will also need to make sure you have that as well as this new build of the app.

Because this update is a .1 release, you won’t see any other changes in it.  The changes that came with the 4.0 release of the American Airlines app included a countdown to your boarding time within the app along with other bug fixes and improvements.  In this release, aside from the Android Wear support, there are no other mentioned changes.

Like the other airline apps in the Google Play Store, the American Airlines app is free but to use it to is fullest, you will need an AAdvantage account (also free) to make changes to reservations, track your elite status and the like.  This update also supports both Android Phones as well as tablets.
