WordPress for Android Update Brings Refreshed Navigation

If you are a WordPress users like me then you have a much improved WordPress for Android app to check out today.  The new version 4.1 (for those keeping score at home) brings a completely rejuvinated tab navigation to the app along with some other minor fixes and improvements.  In the release notes, WordPress is quite clear that this update really focuses on the usability and navigation and not so much on new features or fixes.  That said, there are a few fixes in it so it is certainly worth the download.

The banner feature for this update to WordPress for Android is the new top-of-screen tab navigation.  In version 4.0 and earlier, moving from one part of the app to another (from the reader to your site stats for example) was done through the hamburger menu.  In version 4.1 that completely changes.  Now you have a tab menu at the top of the display and from the WordPress icon tab you can get to your sites and states, from the newspaper icon you can get to the Reader, your profile can be accessed from the person icon while your notifications can be accessed from the bell

WordPress for Android also includes a couple of small but important fixes for users.  First the back button on your Android phone or tablet now actually closes the app.  Second, they fixed a small bug where if you visited your site from the app itself, it would bump up your stats.  This has been fixed so if you visit your site it no longer increments a visit.
