Good news for those who use WordPress for their site or blog. The new build for Android Finally, finally, contains a Visual editor. That means that you will have the same look and feel as you do on the web when it comes to formats, layouts and other things instead of having to use plain text and HTML markup. The change is most certainly welcome for those who don’t have code experience or simply don’t want to have to bother with the code. I’m certainly in that camp (ClintonFitch.com is powered by WordPress).
The updated version for the app is build 5.5 for those keeping score at home and it is rolling out to the Google Play Store now. When you first start the app under this new build, you will see a pop-up letting you know that you now have the visual editor. From there, once you start to work on a post, it will look and feel very much like how the WordPress site feels when you are editing in

Chrome. You have the formatting bar under the main text area where you can do things like bold and italicize words with a tap. For those who want to use the app in HTML markup, that feature is still there. All you need to do is tap where it says HTML in the format bar to change over to plain text.
Aside from this new editor, there isn’t anything else that is new in the update. There are likely some bug fixes and other improvements so even if you don’t plan on using the new visual editor, it is a good idea to download the update so you have the latest-and-greatest.
