Today Google has made good on a commitment they Tweeted about a few months back: There is now a non-Google Project Fi compatible phone. The new Android One Moto X4 is available for pre-order starting today and takes full advantage of Project Fi’s ability to switch networks on-the-fly just like the Google Pixel and previous Nexus 6, 6P and 5X.
The Moto X4 comes with what Google is calling a pure Android experience and ships with Android Nougat. An update to Oreo will happen before the end of 2017 and Google has indicated that the Moto X4 will be among the first phones to get the Android P update in 2018.
The Moto X4 is a 5.2″ device with a 1080 x 1920 display. That gives you a comfortable ~424PPI for viewing. It runs on the Snapdragon 630 SoC with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. That storage can be expanded up to an additional 256GB thanks to the MicroSD slot.
Camera wise, the Moto X4 has a dual-camera configuration as the main shooter. It is a 12MP and 8MP combo with the 8MP shooter able to capture wide-angle photos. The front facing camera is a 16MP shooter.
Powering all of this is a 3000 mAh battery that can be charged rapidly thanks to Motorola’s built-in TurboPower charging. That can give you 6 hours of use in just 15 minutes of charging.
