OneDrive for Android Update Brings Tab-Style Navigation

Microsoft has released a new update to their OneDrive app for Android.  The update is version 5.1 for those keeping score at home and brings a refreshed UI to the cloud storage app.

With this update, Microsoft has finally moved away from the hamburger style menu and opted for a bottom, tab-style navigation.  This brings it more inline with other Microsoft apps as well as how Android apps look & feel in general.  These changes should help simplify navigation throughout the app.

In these tabs there is now a “Me” section which allows you to view any notifications you have received from OneDrive or updates on files you have shared with others.  Here is were you will also find your account information and can adjust other app settings.

Aside from the new navigation, nothing feature wise has changed in this update although you can bet there some unstated performance improvements and bug fixes.

If you have OneDrive installed on your phone then you should see the update hit your phone via an OTA update over the course of the next day or two.  If you haven’t tried Microsoft’s cloud storage, you can do so for free.  The app is free and 5GB of storage is also free.  All you need is a Microsoft account (which is also free).
