The Android Oreo Update Has Been Released for The ASUS ZenFone 4

As we begin 2018, another phone is getting updated to Android Oreo.  The ASUS ZenFone 4 is that phone, with the announcement of the release of the Oreo update coming last Friday.  The update, build V15.0405.1711.76 for those keeping score at home, will start rolling out as an OTA update this week to owners.

The update brings all of the normal features of Android Oreo to the ZenFone 4 along with the December 2017 Android Security Update patch.  While an exact size of the update wasn’t disclosed in the announcement, you can expect it to come in at or just over 1GB based on other phones getting their Oreo update.  It is an update you will certainly want to download connected to WiFi and you will need at least 80% battery life remaining in order to install it.

In order to manually check for the update, go to Settings>About>System Update on your ASUS ZenFone 4 and it will check for and download the update if it is available.  Note that it could take several days before everyone sees it.

The ZenFone 4 was never released here in the United States but the 5.5″ phone powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC received generally good reviews.
