Third Chrome 66 Build Arrives in The Chrome OS Beta Channel

A new Chrome 66 based build has arrived for the Chrome OS Beta Channel today.  The new build, 66.0.3359.79 (Platform version: 10452.42.0), brings a number of bug fixes, crash fixes and overall stability improvements to the channel as Google preps it for release later this month. The new build is available for the majority of devices and you can check for it if by typing chrome://help in the browser bar and checking for the update.  The release comes just shy of a week from the last beta build that was released to the channel.

As a reminder to readers, the Chrome OS Beta Channel is the last channel that new builds lands in prior to going to the public Stable Channel.  Chrome 66 is slated to land there for Chrome OS on or around April 24th according to the Chromium team.

As you would expect for a beta build, there are a lot of fixes in this update with several focusing on crash bugs according to the release notes for the build.  These include crash issues for those signing their Chromebooks into Active Directory domains and fixes for crashes during some search events.  You can review the change log here.

Chrome 66, for the most part, will be a maintenance build as the Chrome OS world prepares for the Chrome 67 release in June.  That release will bring significant changes & improvements to the platform and currently resides in the Chrome OS Dev Channel.
