AT&T Releases Android Marshmallow for the Galaxy Note 5

Let’s all give AT&T a slow clap.  It only took them three months after every other carrier released it but they finally have dropped Android Marshmallow on the Galaxy Note 5 for their customers.  Well done.

The OTA update for Marshmallow 6.0 is huge at 1.4GB so be prepared to wait a while for the download.  Once you get the update, it will take 20-30 minutes to install and your phone will reboot.  As always, I highly recommend that you have all your files and photos backed up before you begin the update process.

AT&T Releases Security Update For The Note 5

AT&T announced yesterday on their support site that an important security update for Galaxy Note 5 users on their network will start receiving.  The notice simply states that the update has security and performance enhancements in it but does not go into details on what exactly those enhancements are in detail.  That’s not that uncommon but what is good to know is that the update brings along with it the February Android Security update for Lollipop 5.1.1 with it.

Verizon Releases Marshmallow Update for Galaxy Note 5

US-based carrier Verizon has released the Android Marshmallow update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to customers on their network.  The update brings all of the goodness of Marshmallow but also brings some specific features from Verizon like Wi-Fi calling and improvements in Live Broadcasting.  As you would expect, this update is hefty, so you will have to be connected to Wi-Fi in order to download it to your device.  Once downloaded, it will take up to 10 minutes to install and will require a reboot of your Note 5.  For those keeping score, you will be looking for build MMB29K.N920VVRU2BPB2 for your Note 5.

Samsung Marshmallow Update Roadmap Leaked

The roadmap of when Samsung is going to be releasing their Android Marshmallow updates to devices has been leaked, again, with some revised or clarified dates.  Phone Arena first posted on this earlier today and the news is good for those who have a wide range of Samsung phones from the past couple of years.  While the leak is by no means a 100% confirmation, it is an indicator of where they company is on development and which devices are going to see the update eventually.

Samsung Note 5 Starting To See Marshmallow 6.0.1 Update

Although it is only hitting Asia and Europe at the moment, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is starting to see the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update roll out globally.  The update will bring the latest security updates to the phablet along with several other UI tweaks that are exclusive to Samsung.  While the South Korean company has made no official announcements – and they rarely do – it is expect that this update will roll out globally over the course of the next few days.
