Verizon Releases Updates for The Majority of Samsung Devices on Their Network

While everyone’s attention this week has been focused on the events at Mobile World Congress, Verizon rolled out a bunch of updates to Samsung devices and a few Moto devices on their network.  The majority of the updates are focused on bringing the February Android Security Update to the Samsung devices as well as other minor tweaks and updates.  The Moto Z devices are getting the December patch.

Here is the rundown of the phones that Verizon updated this week along with the new build numbers.  I’ve linked to the release notes for each build that the carrier has published.

In all cases, the updates have been released and should be landing on their respective devices via an OTA update this week.

Today’s Deal – Turbot 3-Coil Qi Charging Stand for $20

Today’s Deal is for those of you who have a device that has Qi wireless charging built into it.  Over at Amazon you can pick up the Turbot 3-coil desktop stand charger for such devices for just $20.  That’s a savings of 56% off the regular price.  The stand holds your device at a 60 degree angle for easy viewing while it is charging.  Because it has 3 coils for charging, it is fast and efficient at charging your devices plus, the design lends itself to getting the charging connection right given the location of the coils in the stand.  The charger also is designed so that it keeps cool while charging, something many other wireless chargers struggle with as they can easily get over 100F.

T-Mobile Releases June Security Update for The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

Good news this morning for those of you who have a Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge on T-Mobile.  The carrier has released the June security update in an OTA update with some other fixes and improvements this morning.  The updated builds are G920TUVU4EPF1 for the S6 while the S6 Edge new build is G925TUVU3EPD1.  For either device, the update weighs in at about 200MB and you will have to reboot your phone after you download and install the update.

AT&T Releases Android Marshmallow for the Galaxy Note 5

Let’s all give AT&T a slow clap.  It only took them three months after every other carrier released it but they finally have dropped Android Marshmallow on the Galaxy Note 5 for their customers.  Well done.

The OTA update for Marshmallow 6.0 is huge at 1.4GB so be prepared to wait a while for the download.  Once you get the update, it will take 20-30 minutes to install and your phone will reboot.  As always, I highly recommend that you have all your files and photos backed up before you begin the update process.
