Android Nougat Update For The Honor 8 Released

Good news for those of you with the Huawei Honor 8.  The Android Nougat update has been released for the phone and is rolling out to users via an OTA update.  The update will bring all of the things you expect with Android Nougat but it also includes the EMUI 5.0 user experiences to the phone.  This new version of Huawei’s Android experience has been well received on other devices and comes with their newly announced machine learning technology built into it.

The update for the Honor 8 is just over 2Gb in size so you will want to make sure that you are on Wi-Fi to download it.  Once you have it, the install process will take about 20 minutes and a reboot is required.

Huawei Honor 8 Now Available on Amazon

If you have been wanting to get your hands on one of the better devices to hit the Android market in 2016, you can do so now through Amazon.  The new Huawei Honor 8 is now available at the online retailer starting at $397 in white and $399 in black.  The 5.2″ device was release on the Huawei website last week but has made it to Amazon, Best Buy and Newegg online now.  The device is receiving high praise already and has a powerful set of specs for a phone in this price range.

The Honor 8 is powered by the Kirin 950 processor which has four Cortex A72 cores running at 2.3GHz and four Cortex A53 cores running at 1.85GHz.  It has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage built-in but can be expanded an additional 128GB thanks to the MicroSD slot.  The 5.2″ LTPS display renders at 1920 x 1080 which gives you ~423PPI.

Huawei Includes Honor 5x in Software Update Policy

Last week I posted that Huawei had clarified their software update policy on the Honor 8.  This week the Chinese manufacture has added the Honor 5x to the list of devices under the new upgrade policy.  That means both of the latest devices, for the next 24 months, will see major and minor updates.  It is good news for sure as the Honor 5x has been a popular device (and at $189 unlocked, it’s not hard to see why) and Huawei is doing their part to keep their devices up-to-date.

Well done Huawei.
