HP Announces The HP Chromebox G2 Ahead of CES

HP Chromebox G2

HP clearly is continuing to support Chrome OS in a big way.  After announcing two new Chromebooks, the company has announced the 2nd generation of their Chromebox, the HP Chromebox G2.  With the option to power this new Chromebox with up to the latest 8th generation Intel i7 processor, this will be a powerful option for those looking for a workstation or at home Chrome device.  It will be available this Spring.

Keeping with the small form factor, the new HP Chromebox G2 will measure 5.87 x 5.87 x 1.57 inches and weigh 1.48 lbs.  That is pretty consistent with the first generation HP Chromebox.  What changes though are the internals.  The base model will be powered by the Intel Celeron 3865U processor but there is an i5-7300U and i7-8650U option available.  The Celeron option will have the Intel HD Graphics 610 integration graphics option while the Core i models will have the UHD Graphics 620.  Also, you will be able to have up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of storage built into the device.

You Can Now Print to Your HP Printer from Google Assistant

HP Printing from Google Assistant

The number of services that have come to Google Assistant has grown exponentially in 2017 but really over the course of the last few months.  Dozens of new services have come to the digital assistant and one of the newest is HP.

When you link your Google Cloud Print enabled HP printer to Google Assistant, you will be able to have it print things for you without having to touch your phone or PC.  Admittedly, the service is somewhat limited now but you get a great idea of what can be done in the future.

First, you have to have an HP printer that works with Google Cloud Print natively.  The vast majority of their printers that have WiFi functionality do but double-check yours.  I have an OfficeJet Pro 8650 and it works with no problem.  Next, you will need to setup Google Assistant to link with your HP Printer.

Today’s Deal: HP Chromebook 11 G4 – $175 on Amazon

Today’s Deal over at Amazon is a great one for those of you who are looking for a solid performing 11″ Chromebook.  The HP Chromebook 11 G4 is down to $174.89 at Amazon and that is for the 4GB of RAM model with 16GB of storage.  I reviewed this Chromebook back in February and it remains my day-to-day Chromebook.  I have to say it is one of the best 11″ Chromebooks I have had the privileged to test and review. It’s performance is solid, the keyboard is smooth and responsive, as is the trackpad. I found the display to be very good for an 11″ device while the battery life, for some, will be lacking. All that said though, with a price of $200 for the 4GB, 16GB of storage model on Amazon, it is hard to beat. I have no hesitation in recommending it for the vast majority of readers.
