Android Nougat Rolling Out to T-Mobile’s LG G5

Good news this morning for T-Mobile customers who are rocking the LG G5.  Android Nougat is out and available for your phone.  The 1.2GB update is coming to the G5 as an OTA update and along with bringing you all the goodness of Nougat, you are also getting the November security update for Android included in the update.  The updated build is NRD90U and T-Mobile has pushed the big red button to get the release out to customers.  You can check for the update on your G5 by going to Settings>About Phone>Software Update and manually check for it.  Because of the size, you are going to need to make sure you are on Wi-Fi to download the update file then will need at least 70% battery life to install it.  As with other updates, your phone will be rebooted in the upgrade process.

Today’s Deal – LG G5 Down to $399 on Amazon

Today’s Deal over at Amazon is on the solidly built and performing LG G5.  This 5.3″ display device with 32GB of storage and 4GB of RAM is down from it’s normal price of $649.99 to $399.99 on Amazon.  This is a great price on this phone and certainly should be one to consider if you are looking for a top-end phone at a mid-market price.  The G5 is powered by the Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor and coupled with the Adreno 530 GPU.  It has 4GB of RAM which is going to be enough to really do anything with this phone and has 32GB of onboard storage.  That storage can be expanded up to an additional 2TB (that’s right, 2 terabytes) thanks to the MicroSD card slot.

Camera wise, you have dual rear cameras in the LG G5 that give you 16MP images with laser auto-focus and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).  It has a 2-stage LED flash while the front facing camera is an 8MP shooter with a nice 135 degree wide angle view.

AT&T Starts Pre-Orders of the LG V20

AT&T has begun pre-orders of the LG flagship Android phone, the LG V20.  The 5.7″ phone that is powered by the Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM will start out at an eye watering $829 putting it higher than the Google Pixel XL and nearly as much as the iPhone 7 Plus.  If you do place a pre-order, it will be shipping out to you at the end of this month and you aren’t actually charged until the phone ships so you do have some time to think about it.

Fortunately AT&T is offering a few promotions to help ease the cost pain.  First, you can pay out the phone interest free for 30 months.  That will cost you $27.67 per month.  If you opt for the 24 month plan, which will allow you to trade the phone in come October 2017, that plan is $34.59 per month.

LG V20 Announced with Impressive Specs

Last night the all new LG V20 was announced and this flagship device has a some serious specs for those looking for a high end, high performing device.  The first phone to run Android Nougat will be hitting the market later this month and will be carried by a few carriers here in the US as well as being available unlocked.  The 5.7″ device is powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor, has 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 16MP main shooter and a removable battery.  And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

LG Announces The LG V20 Phone Coming in September with Nougat

Today LG has announced that their upcoming flagship device, the LG V20, will be shipping starting in September.  Specifications around the new phone are virtually unknown.  Very few leaks have come out for the V20, a rarity these days, so nobody is 100% sure what the phone will have for a processor/memory combination.  Given it is a flagship, the V20 will likely have the upper end of the Snapdragon processor lineup (8xx) and 3GB of RAM but again, just speculation on my part.  What we do know however, based on this release from LG, is that the V20 will come with Android Nougat installed.

LG Launches The Stylus 2 Plus With Improved User Experiences

Building upon the success and design of the Stylus 2, LG has announced the launch of the updated Stylus 2 Plus today in Taiwan with a broader release coming over the course of the next few weeks.  LG states that this updated stylus driven phablet “… design remains consistent with the original LG Stylus 2, the smartphone features significantly better performance than its original cousin.”  And upgrades it does have indeed.  It keeps the 5.7″ Full HD display with some some improvements, adds a fingerprint sensor and has an Intel based 1.4GHz octa-core processor powering things.  That is coupled with 2GB of RAM on the 16GB storage model while the 32GB storage model will have 3GB of RAM.  There is also a MicroSD slot.

T-Mobile Rolls Out Android Marshmallow To The LG G3

For those of you who have the excellent LG G3 on the T-Mobile network, today is a great day.  The carrier has started pushing out the Android Marshmallow update to the device, bringing it up to version 6.0 of Android and all the goodness that the release has in it.  The updated version you are looking for is build H63120b and while T-Mobile on their support page do not given an indication of size, if other updates are any indication, you can expect about a 1GB download from Lollipop to Marshmallow.  That means you will need to be on Wi-Fi to download it and you can expect the total update time to take about 30 minutes.
