Huawei Announces The Impressive Mate 9

Today Huawei pulled back the covers on their latest flagship Android phone, the Mate 9.  The 5.9″ display device has some impressive specs that will meet most power user needs when it hits the market in December.   It is the first phone that will have Huawei’s new Kirin 960 octa-core process and it will have the new ARM Mali-G71 GPU coupled with it.  Add to that 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a 20MP dual camera setup, you have all the makings of a solid device that will be priced at around $776.

If that wasn’t enough for you, there will also be a Porsche Design Mate 9 that will have 6GB of RAM and a whopping 256GB of onboard storage.  That model will have a 5.5″ curved glass design but otherwise, it is the same spec as the Mate 9.  Pricing for the

Porsche model will be a bit steep – $1550.

For the Mate 9, Huawei has done a lot of work on redesigning their EMUI interface.  Powered by Android Nougat, EMUI 5.0 features a lot of refinements and improvements that should appeal to users.  EMUI was my single biggest complaint when I reviewed the Honor 8 a few months back and It is great to see the company put some work into improving the speed and overall usability of their Launcher.

The phone will launch in December and will be in Europe before it gets here to the United States.
