4th & Mayor Foursquare App for Windows Phone Gets Major Update

The wait is finally over!  Jeff Wilcox, the Microsoft employee who has developed the Foursquare app 4th & Mayor for Windows Phone has released version 3.0 of the popular app.  The new version supports all the fun things Mango brings to Windows Phone including Live Tiles and the ability to pin friends, yourself and even a quick check-in tile to your Start screen.

4th & Mayor requires that you have a Foursquare account, which is free.  The app itself is also free.

A full review of 4th & Mayor will be coming later this week.

Pocketnow.com Reviews The Samsung Focus S

The Pocketnow.com team is the latest to weigh in with a review of the Samsung Focus S.  The extensive review covers all aspects of the latest Windows Phone offering from Samsung and includes a huge number of device shots, a couple of videos and some good photo comparison shots from the Focus S and other Windows Phones.

The 4.3-inch screen is absolutely gorgeous, the speed increase is extremely welcome in the processor intensive games, and the camera works very nicely. The excellent battery life is sure to make your Android and iPhone friends jealous as well.

How To Take Screenshots on Windows Phone 7.5

Over the course of the past couple of days I’ve gotten a lot of questions about my reviews here the site and from Tweets I’ve posted regarding screenshots.  Usually they are along the lines of, “How did you take your screenshots?”

Natively, Windows Phone does not have a way to take screenshots.  It is a huge (underline, underline, bold, bold) problem, especially for those of us who blog.  After all, I’d like to provide you screenshots, not device shots of a particular screen.  They look better!  Fortunately there is an easy way to do this and I’ll show you in this How To.

Here is what you will need:

  • A Windows PC running Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit is fine)
  • The Windows Phone 7.1 SDK (Free)
  • .NET Framework 4.0
  • A Windows Live ID
  • $9 to get an unlock token from ChevronWP7
  • Screen Capture v3 from XDA Developers
