Microsoft OneNote Update Brings App Shortcut Support

Microsoft OneNote, the free note taking app from the Redmond based company, has a new update rolling out for Android users.  The update, version 15.0.8827.2090 for those keeping score at home and who like playing version number BINGO!, brings several new features including integration with Microsoft Office Lens.

For those who don’t know, Office Lens is the scanning and whiteboard capturing app that allows to save them as photos.  Now the apps are more tightly integrated so you can capture something with Office Lens while in OneNote.

Office Lens Update Allows Offline PDF Saving

A new update to Microsoft Lens for Android is rolling out today that brings improved offline support to the content capturing app.  The update, version 16.0.8730.2076 for those keeping score at home and who like version numbering BINGO! allows users to safe content as PDFs while offline.

Previously, in order to capture content using Lens and converting it to a PDF, you had to be online.  Now, if you are offline and capture something with lens, it is save as a PDF locally and when you are back online, it will upload it to your OneDrive account as usual.

For those who aren’t familiar with Office Lens, the app trims and enhances images of documents, business cards, whiteboards and other content and allows you to convert those images to PDF, Word or PowerPoint files.  You an also save the captures to your OneNote account or your OneDrive account.
