Essential Phone Camera App Update Brings Many Welcomed Improvements

The camera app for the Essential Phone has a new update rolling out in the Play Store that brings a lot of new features and improvements.  The company announced the new camera app build on Twitter a couple of days ago.

A New Chrome OS Commit Points to Android App Split Screen Resizing Support

As Android app support continues to grow and develop in Chrome OS, a new commit suggest that it is about to get even better.  The new commit points to Android app being able to be resized while in split screen support.  Split screen support is is currently in the Dev channel and it will likely be a few months before we see it in the Stable channel.   This new feature would allow for resizing of the apps when you are in split screen mode.

With this new feature, you would be able to control the overall screen real estate that an Android app takes up on your Chromebook specifically when it is in tablet mode.  Right now, everything automatically gets kicked into full screen mode.

Chrome OS Beta Channel Updated with Second Chrome 64 Build

The Chrome OS Beta Channel has a second build that has been released to testers this month.  The new build is 64.0.3282.122 (Platform version: 10176.61.0) and it is available to most devices out there.  If you are already running the first beta of the month, you can type chrome://help and check for the update to this new build.

This new build is loaded with a lot of bug fixes, performance improvements and other tweaks as the Chromium team puts the final touches on getting this new build ready for the Stable channel.  You can read the entire change log here but the TL:DR version is bug fixes and security improvements.

Microsoft Bing for Android Update Brings Improved In-App Browser Experience

Microsoft Bing has a new update rolling out for Android users that brings an improved in-app browser experience along with a handful of other tweaks & improvements.  The new build is version 8.1.26158908 for those keeping score at home.

The biggest change in this new build is the improvements around in-app browsing.  Generally the entire experience is better but video and image viewing is better along with easier tab navigation and the ability to find text on a page.

Today’s Deal is on the Essential Phone, the PH-1.  As readers will know, this is the first phone from Andy Rubin’s company and after a few software updates that have come out for it, the PH-1 has proven to be a solid performer.  Right now you can pick on up for $434 on Amazon, a savings of $264.  That price is for either the Black Moon or Pure White colors.

The Essential Phone has a titanium body with a ceramic back, a 5.7″ 2560 x 1320 Quad-HD display, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage built-in.  It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.  This octa-core processor has four cores running at 2.45GHz and the remaining four clocked at 1.9GHz.
