Huawei Mate 10 Lineup Receiving a Significant Bug Fix Update

The Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro have a significant bug fixing update rolling out in the manufacture’s home country, China.  The update brings a number of bug fixes and stability improvements to both devices.  The update to EMUI, the company’s Android Oreo build, is version 8.0.0.127 (SP1C00) and it is the same for both devices.

From an optimization perspective, there are seven improvements noted in the release notes for the build.

  • Optimizes Camera and the Navigation dock.
  • Optimizes the Beauty feature by adding special touches based on the genders of the photographed subjects.
  • Optimizes the accessibility of the Navigation dock, which can now be used in Ultra power saving mode and the notification panel.
  • Optimizes the system power consumption by controlling the consumption of third-party apps
  • Simplifies the operation of the status bar (tapping on it to return to the call screen is supported).
  • Increases the speed of grabbing WeChat lucky money.
  • Enjoy being faster than the rest even when in the same network environment.

Verizon Kills Plans to Sell Huawei Phones

Facing political pressure to scrap the deal, Verizon is dropping their plans to sell Huawei phones to their customers here in the United States.  The plan is a blow to the Chinese manufacture who suffered a similar blow from AT&T earlier this month.

The news comes from sources at Bloomberg who state the main thrust behind the decision was political pressure due to concerns about the company potentially spying for the Chinese government, something Huawei has long denied and there being no evidence from the other countries where their devices are sold as this being an issue.

Yes, Microsoft Stores will be Selling the Huawei Mate 10 Pro

With all of the news coming out around Huawei this week at CES, there was a point that got missed by many.  That is, the new Huawei Mate 10 Pro will be sold in Microsoft Stores.  The news of this was actually in the official press release about the Mate 10 Pro coming to Best Buy, Amazon, B&H and Newegg.  But in there was also Microsoft and it got missed by a lot of folks.

Like other retailers, the Mate 10 Pro will be available from Microsoft for $799.

The news of this should not come as much of a surprise for those who keep tabs on Microsoft and Android.  Earlier this month I posted about the fact that there are now more Android phones in the Microsoft Store for you to buy than Windows 10 Phones.  Given that the company has essentially stopped development on Windows 10 Phone, it is hardly a surprise that the focus is now on Android.

The phones will be available from Amazon, B&H, Best Buy, Microsoft Stores and Newegg with Best Buy having the phone available in their retail locations to view and purchase.  The phone will be sold unlocked and will work with various GSM carriers here in the US like AT&T, T-Mobile, and Cricket Wireless.

Leaked Image of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro From Evan Blass

We know that the Huawei Mate 10 is coming in a few weeks but images of the Mate 10 Pro, the top end version of the phone, have been scarce.  It seems that Evan Blass has the answer once again.  He took to Twitter in the wee hours of Sunday to post images of the upcoming Pro version of the phone.

While the phone is being referred to as the Mate 10 Pro, that’s more or less a distinction from the expected Mate 10 Lite that is to also be announced later this month.  Whether Huawei actually calls it the Pro is to be seen.
