Add Money To Your PayPal Account at 7-Eleven

A small update to the PayPal app is rolling out in the Google Play Store that brings the ability to add funds to your account at your local 7-Eleven.  The update builds on a feature that was introduced late last year which saw the same feature come to local CVS and Rite Aid stores.  How it works is pretty straight forward.  Take your phone and the money you want to add to your account to a participating 7-Eleven.  Go into the app and go to Manage Balance>Add Money>Add cash at a store.  Follow the prompts and you will get a barcode that you need to show to the cashier.  Once they scan that barcode and collect your money, the funds will appear in your PayPal account in about 15 minutes.  Quick, simple and easy.

As you would guess, there is a convenience charge to do this type of transaction which is $3.95.  Also keep in mind that not every 7-Eleven (or CVS or Rite Aid for that matter) is setup to take funds like this.  You will need to check with your local store.

Mint Update Brings Improved Bill Handling and Payments

Intuit has rolled out an update to their financial budget and bill tracking app, Mint.  The update brings many improvements including a much improved ability to see the bills you have due, which ones have been paid and payment reminders so you can avoid late fees.  If you are a subscriber to Mint and have the app installed, the OTA should be coming to you over the course of the next couple of days.

The biggest change in this update is the new bill section.  Now you can see the number of bills that have been paid and the number that you have coming up in the month.  Tapping on this new tile will give you the exact details of which bill is do when and who it is due too.  The idea is to give you a better grasp on your cashflow so you can budget to get your bills paid on time.

PayPal Update Lets You Donate to Charities Within The App

The PayPal app for Android has been updated with several new features for users.  One of the key new features is the ability to donate to hundreds of charities across the United States right from within the app.  On the home page of the app you will now see a new Donate section.  Tap this and you will see a searchable list of charities and organizations you can support through the app.  Find the one you want to support then tap the donate button to send funds to that organization.  It is quick and easy and allows you to get funds to the organizations you want to support quickly.  One note is that, for now, this feature only works in the United States.

Chase Bank The Latest Bank to Shun The Windows Phone Community

The shunning of Windows and Windows Phone by the US banking industry continues in earnest.  After Bank of America dropped support for their Windows and Windows Phone applications earlier this month, Chase has followed suit.  Over the weekend, Chase users who attempted to use the app were greeted with a notification that the app was no longer supported and that users needed to go to the Chase website through their browser.  Like Bank of America, users of Chase also found problems using the mobile website in Internet Explorer on their Windows Phone.

It is just the latest in a series of high profile and important apps being dropped for Windows Phone at a time where the future for the platform and universal apps is as bright as it has ever been.
