Sony Launches The Impressive Xperia XZ

Sony introduced their new flagship Android phone, the Xperia XZ, at IFA 2016 and it is impressive.  The 5.2″ Full HD display device comes with just about everything you would want in a phone including an astonishing 23MP camera.  That’s right:  23 Megapixels.  Powering the XZ is the Snapdragon 820 processor and it is coupled with the Adreno 530 GPU.  It has 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and that storage can be expanded up to an additional 256GB thanks to the MicroSD slot.

The cameras however somewhat steal the show.

Sony Announces Nine Xperia Devices to Get Android Nougat

With Android Nougat out and already hitting Nexus devices, the big question everyone now wants an answer for is when their particular manufacture will be rolling it out to their devices.  For their part, Sony has published a list of no less than nine Xperia devices that will see the Nougat update, which will great to see, will leave some disappointed.  Missing from the list is the super popular Xperia Z3 as well as the entire Xperia C, E and M lineup.  To be fair, the Z3 missing from the list isn’t that shocking given that it was released in September 2014.  That’s right at the cusp of when a manufacture would consider an update.  For the newer C, E and M lineups however, that is a big disappointment.

Sony Releases Marshmallow for The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

Adding to the releases that the company made last week, Sony has released the Android Marshmallow update for another of their devices.  If you are an Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact owner, Marshmallow goodness is coming your way via an OTA update that should be hitting your device any time now.  The update you are looking for is build 23.5.A.0.570 which, if you remember, is the same build number across several other Xperia devices that have received the latest version of Android.

Sony Releases Android Marshmallow for Xperia Z2 and Z3

After a lengthy beta program for the Xperia Z2 and Z3, Sony has announced they have begun rolling out the Android Marshmallow update to the wider lineup of those devices, including those that were not in the beta program.  The update is firmware build 23.5.A.0.570 for those keeping score and brings these devices up to Marshmallow 6.0.1.  Owners of the Z2 or Z3 should start seeing the update come to them via an OTA update in the coming days.

Sony Opens Android Marshmallow Beta to Xperia Z3 Owners

Yesterday Sony announced the devices that they plan on providing an update to Android Marshmallow to in the coming weeks and months.  Now the company has opened up beta testing of Marshmallow to 10,000 Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact owners.  The news comes from Sony’s blog and is going to be strictly limited to these devices and the first 10,000 users who sign up and meet the criteria.

Sony Outlines Devices Receiving Android Marshmallow

With the rollout of Android Marshmallow now in full effect for Nexus devices, attention is quickly turning to other manufactures on when or if they will be rolling it out to their devices.  We know that HTC and Samsung have a reasonable list of devices that will be getting Marshmallow and just last week, Motorola released their list which was met with lukewarm enthusiasm given a number of carrier devices are not on the list.

Now we have finally heard from Sony.

The Japanese company on their blog today released the list of devices in their Xperia line that will be Android Marshmallow update and it is comprehensive.
