Google Sheets Update Brings Much Improved Chart Support for Android

Google has released an update to Google Sheets for Android that brings some much needed improvements around charts in the spreadsheet app.  Right now you can insert a chart into a sheet on your Android phone or tablet with no problem but manipulating that chart is pretty limited.  For things like changing simple things like the legend location, you have to go to the file in your browser.  That, fortunately, is changing.

Chrome Has Over 1 Billion Mobile Users Monthly In Latest Stats From Google

As most readers will know by now, Chrome v50 was released earlier this week and to celebrate the occasion, Google has released some very interesting stats about the browser and its usage.  There are a lot of good tidbits in the infographic shared by the company but the one that sticks out is the number of mobile Chrome users.  In all, there are over 1 billion mobile users of the browser each month.  That is just mobile users alone.  No matter how you slice it, that is an amazingly impressive number.

Inbox by Gmail Update Brings Streamlined Event Tracking and Link Saving Features

Google has begun rolling out a new update to Inbox, bringing with it several new features and some key enhancements to the email app.  Inbox by Google continues to develop rapidly as the go-to mail app for Android and these latest updates make it clear that this is the app for the future by the company.  The biggest feature change in this update is streamlined event tracking.  Now when an event has changed, you will see that update in your Inbox so you can view it at a glance.  Tapping on it will give you more details about the event and what has changed.

Google Adds Podcast Playing Directly From Google App on Android

On Monday, Google announced that audio podcasts were coming to Google Play Music for the first time with the feature already enabled on the web and an updated app coming to Android.  To make your life easier and to find those podcasts you want to listen to on your phone, the Google search app on your phone has received a background update to help you find and play them.  The good news is that there is no update of an app required for users.  This is all on the back end and it is already working.

Sony Releases Android Marshmallow for Xperia Z2 and Z3

After a lengthy beta program for the Xperia Z2 and Z3, Sony has announced they have begun rolling out the Android Marshmallow update to the wider lineup of those devices, including those that were not in the beta program.  The update is firmware build 23.5.A.0.570 for those keeping score and brings these devices up to Marshmallow 6.0.1.  Owners of the Z2 or Z3 should start seeing the update come to them via an OTA update in the coming days.
