Yesterday there was a lot of news floating around Gmail and the new Gmailify feature.  First things first, what is Gmailify?  This is a feature that allows you to take your non-Gmail accounts like Hotmail and Yahoo and give them Gmail-like features such as spam filtering, Google Now cards and other features that up to this point have been Google only.  It is a pretty slick feature, especially if you have an email account other than Gmail.

With this update comes a new Android version of the app which will allow you to fully enable this feature.

With the 2016 NASCAR season kicking off this weekend in Daytona, Florida, it seems only appropriate that one of the top racing simulator games for Android be updated to get you in on the action.  Real Racing 3 received a healthy update yesterday that allows you to compete in the Daytona 500, considered the “Super Bowl” of stock car racing, and earn four iconic cars from the series.  The update also allows you to race alongside current NASCAR drivers such as Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick and you can compete in The gauntlet to earn a limited edition Richard Petty throwback Ford Fusion.

Virtual Reality is coming to this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.  The company’s annual swimsuit edition hits newsstands this week but if you want to have a VR experience, you can do it with the new app that is in the Google Play Store.  The free app gives you access to a handful of free videos, all in 360-degree VR, with additional content available for purchase in the app.  If you are already a subscriber to Sports Illustrated, you can get access to that content for free as part of your subscription.

The week in review for this week has a lot of Android and some minor Chrome OS news.  The rumor mill continues to churn on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 series while Update Wednesday this week did’t disappoint.  There was also some new releases of Android Marshmallow to some devices and a few price drops on devices.  All-in-all, a busy week!  Here are some of the highlights as covered on ClntonFitch.com

American Airlines has released an update to their Android app that now allows you to seamlessly pinpoint your pick up point for Uber right from within the app.  The partnership between the two companies is new and while the Uber pick up isn’t in every location American flies, it will save you from having to fumble around through both apps to arrange your pick up location.  To do this, users need to go to the terminal maps in the app, which also have been significantly improved, and let the app leverage your location services to pinpoint you and get you an Uber.  There is even a $20 discount if you use the code RIDEAA for you first time Uber users.

The social and community site Google+ continues its resurgence and today another update to the Android app for the site has been released.  Like many of the releases for the app over these past few months, this one is chock full of changes which most users will appreciate almost immediately.  The news originally came from Google’s Luke Wroblewski on his Google+ page where he outlined the changes in the release which has rolled out to the Google Play Store already.  You will be looking for version 7.2.0 for those keeping score at home and if you already have the app installed, an OTA update should be coming your way very soon.
