Samsung Launches The Galaxy A3, A5 and A7

Samsung has announced the launch of the new Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7, the 2016 lineup of their premium but less-than-flagship devices.  The three devices range in size from a 4.7″ screen on the A3 up to a 5.5″ display on the A7.  All three feature aluminum and glass designs to give you that premium feel.  On the A5 and the A7, you also can take advantage of Samsung Pay for contactless payments while all three devices have a 13MP rear facing camera (with OIS for the A5 and A7) for taking photos and a 5MP front facing camera for selfies.

While there was no price lineup provided by Samsung on these new devices, based on previous years, we can likely expect them to top out at $400.

Samsung Devices To Receive Android Marshmallow Update as Soon as December

If you are a Samsung device Android phone user, there is a bit of good news thanks to a leak over at Times News in the UK.  According to a post they have made today, it looks like several Samsung devices are going to see Android Marshmallow soon – like as soon as next month.  According to the post, The Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ will both be seeing the Marshmallow update in December while other devices will be seeing the update in January.  The good news is that it is a pretty comprehensive list of devices.

Devices Expected to Get Android Marshmallow

With Android Marshmallow expected to be released tomorrow at the Google event in San Francisco, the inevitable question is which devices that are out there today will get the update.  Because of the way that Google handles updates – letting the OEMs do it – The timing and even if a device will see an update is a bit nebulous at best and painful at worst.  As we are less than 24 hours away from the event, the list of devices that will be getting Android Marshmallow is starting to become a bit clearer.

Download The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ Wallpapers

Last week as everyone probably knows by now, Samsung introduced the GalaxyNote 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+, their two latest editions to the Galaxy line up.  The specs for both devices are impressive and you can check out the Galaxy Note 5 specs here while the Galaxy S6 edge+ specs are here.  As with any new device, there are a set of new wallpapers that come with them.  While I’m not a huge fan of Samsung devices, I do think their wallpapers are nice and I’ve managed to get all of them from both devices for you to download.

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ Specifications

Along with the Galaxy Note 5 launch today, Samsung also added to their edge lineup of devices.  The new Galaxy S6 edge+ is a larger, 5.7″ HD display version of the S6 edge.  Internally it is identical to the Note 5 which makes sense both from a production perspective (same components on two devices equals lower production costs) and for consumers (want a stylus or the edge component?).  Like the Note 5, The Galaxy S6 edge+ is available for preorder now and will start shipping on August 21st.  It will come with 32GB of storage for $814.99 while the 64GB will cost an eye watering $914.99.  They can be preordered from AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and retailer Best Buy.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Specifications

Today Samsung announced the new Galaxy Note 5 and it is an awesomely powerful phablet.  The 5.7″ HD display device will be available starting on August 21st and will come in a 32GB and 64GB storage flavors for $739.99 and $839.99 respectively.  Preorders are being taken now at most mobile providers here in the US including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint along with retailer Best Buy.

T-Mobile Drops The Price of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge

Last week Samsung announced during their earnings call that they would be dropping the price on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to more accurately reflect the market and prop up sliding sales.  It seems that those prices may be coming to market already.  T-Mobile has updated their site to reflect a $100 drop in price on Galaxy S6 and Galaxy 6 Edge 32GB and 64GB models while the 128GB models have dropped a full $200.  These are for non-contract full purchase of the phones and if you do the math, the higher memory devices are a really good deal right now.

Galaxy S6 Back Glue Failing Issue

This is an interesting story and one that is a bit troubling if it turns out to be a larger issue. Over at Android Pit, they have had an interesting failure on one of their Samsung Galaxy S6 devices.  Specifically, the glue that holds the back on the device has begun to fail and the back is literally peeling off.

The question of course is this a one-off or is this pointing to a larger manufacturing problem.

The team over at Android Pit where quite clear in their post that the device had not been exposed to dropping, heat, water, etc.  In other words it had been taken care of so there was no reason for this to start happening.

Read the full article over at Android Pit and give me your thoughts here or on Google+ or Twitter.

I would also be very curious to hear from anyone (as I’m sure the AP team would as well) of anyone else who has seen this problem on their Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge.
