Google Photos vs Google Drive – Which One To Use

When it comes to photo management and editing, Google Photos is an outstanding tool and it is available for Android and iOS devices.  But for long time Google Drive users, there is a bit of confusion as to when to use Drive versus Photos and what each of them do when it comes to your photos.  Fellow Top Contributor for Google Photos, Scott Peachey, has put together an excellent video to explain how it all works together.

Asus Rolling Out Marshmallow Updates Next Quarter

The wait for Asus owners to see Android Marshmallow come to their devices trudges on but it looks like next quarter is the light at the end of the tunnel.  According to a post made in the Asus Zen Talk user forums, a long list of devices are expected to see the Android 6.0 update in Q2 2016.  That means really anytime from April through to the end of June.  Yes that’s a big window but it is at least a target and it is likely, given the number of devices they plan to update, Asus will roll them out over the entire quarter.

T-Mobile Already Preparing Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge Shipments

It looks like those of you who ordered your new Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge from T-Mobile are going to get your shiny new toy a little early.  Various users on Reddit have reported that they have received shipping notices from the carrier with some devices shipping as early as today.  This is well ahead of the launch date of March 11th which I reported last week when pre-orders began.  The shipping dates appear to have been confirmed by T-Mobile reps with these Reddit users and there are big number of them reporting this.  It looks like it is a go.

How To Enable Screen Rotation In Google Now

A few weeks ago, Google released an update to the Google Search apps for Android.  The updates brought the ability to rotate your Android phone into landscape mode for viewing of your home screen.  Users, of course, have been able to use various apps in landscape mode with no problem but if you turned your device into landscape in an app then tapped the Home key to go back home, you went to a portrait mode.  That has changed now with the update to these apps but by default, it is disabled.  I’ll show you how to enable it in this How To so you can try it out and see if it is right for you.

MLB.com At Bat Gets Some Material Updates

For baseball fans, it is a great time of the year.  Spring Training has started and the season is just a little over a month away from starting.  One of the best sports app out there – and it has been for a long time – is MLB.com At Bat.  It provides a huge wealth of information during the baseball season on your favorite team, players and from around the league and if you love the National Pastime, this app is a must have on your devices.

The league has issued an update to the Android version of the app, build 5.0.0 for those keeping score at home (see what I did just there?) and is available now in the Google Play Store.  The biggest part of this update has to do with the general look of the app.  The update has a far more Material Design look to it than in the previous builds and that new look flows for both the phone and tablet UIs.  With so many apps now following the Material Design look, the MLB app felt a little out of place towards the end of last season.  Now it looks the part a bit better but doesn’t lose it’s baseball look either.
