Last month during the Google event that saw the Nexus 5X and 6P announced, Google made several announcements around other services including Google Play Music. While the big news was the upcoming family subscription service, the ability to send subscription gives was also very briefly mentioned. That feature it appears has now gone live.
If you navigate to the Google Play Music app on your Android phone or tablet and open the hamburger menu, you will now see a “Send gift” option. Tapping it will take you to the Google Play Music website where you can then place your gift subscription order.
Currently there are three options for you to gift in Google Play Music. A one month subscription which is $9.99, a 3 month subscription at $29.97 and a 6 months subscription at $59.94. Once
you select the gift amount, you are taken to a second page to enter in the person you want to send it to email address along with a message that you can attached to the email.
If you haven’t tried out the Google Play Music subscription for yourself, it’s a pretty nice offer. For $9.99 per month you get ad-free streaming music which you can also download for offline listening. I’ve been trying the service out over the course of the last few weeks and given that you can Chromecast music and download music, it’s a a nice service overall. You can stream from your Android devices as well as play in Chrome on your PC, Mac or Chromebook.
