For those of you who are Verizon customers who have the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, take a few minutes to check your phone for updates. Verizon has started rolling out the June Android security update to the device and given it is a sub-200MB download, it should be available to pretty much everyone at this point. The updated build is version MMB29M.N910VVRU2CPF3 for those keeping score at home.
The update shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to download and install on your Note 4 but it does require a restart of the device to apply it. Don’t look for any new features or functionality. This is purely a security fix. The
good news is you are up-to-date with the latest security patches even if there are not obviously visible goodies.
Now that they have started rolling out Marshmallow to many devices, Verizon is doing a reasonably good job of keeping devices up-to-date with the latest patches and updates.
If you don’t remember, you can manually check for an update on your Note 4 by going to Settings>About Phone>Software Update and forcing it to check for it. If you don’t see it yet, give it some time. It should be a pretty quick roll out but it could take a little bit of time to get to everyone.
