Microsoft has rolled out yet another update to their Android launcher, Arrow Launcher. The update marks the third significant update to the launcher over the course of the past three weeks as the company continues to improve the performance and information in the app. This latest update, version 184.108.40.206056 for those keeping score at home, brings a handful of changes with the most notable being IM support on the Recent tab. Now that tab will show you recent Instant Messages that you have received from Facebook Messenger, Skype and other messaging apps. Now you don’t necessarily have to open each app to see your latest interactions on those apps.
This update also brings a new performance mode which allows you to turn off animations and background blurring to make the launcher faster. Frankly on my Nexus 6P I haven’t had any
performance issues with Arrow Launcher but if you have or just want to make things that much faster, now you can do so. Related to this, Microsoft has also done some performance tuning within the launcher to make it faster and more stable.
Finally, and not really a shock to anyone, Microsoft has added Bing built into the launcher. This follows in the footsteps of the company adding Bing to their Next Lock Screen app last week and gives users an alternative to Google Search right within the launcher.
Arrow Launcher is a free app and if you are looking for alternative to Google Now, give this one a go.
