T-Mobile Releases Nougat Update for The HTC One M8

You read the headline right.  T-Mobile has released the Android Nougat update for the now three year old HTC One M8.  The update has passed final Q&A within the carrier and is now starting to hit customer phones.  The news is a little bit of a surprise for a couple of different reasons.  First, did I mention that the One M8 is three years old?  It was released in March 2014 and as a general rule, anything over two years doesn’t see a major update.

Second, the One M8 runs on the Snapdragon 801 processor.  While it was a solid processor at the time, Qualcomm has since stopped supporting it.  Further, because of the lack of support, many manufactures did not update devices running the 801.  Sony would be probably the most notable of those who decided not to update their older devices.

HTC One M8 and M9 Marshmallow Update Starts Tomorrow on AT&T

After months of delays, the Android Marshmallow update for the HTC One M8 and One M9 is finally coming to those on AT&T.  HTC’s Mo Versi tweeted yesterday that the software update had finally been approved and would start hitting devices tomorrow, May 12th.

While it is not expect that every M8 or M9 will see the update tomorrow, it should come to you as an OTA update over the course of the next week or so.  Once you have it, all of the goodness that is Android Marshmallow will be there for you.

T-Mobile & Verizon One M8 Seeing Marshmallow

After what could only be described as a snail’s pace for the release of Android Marshmallow by manufactures and carriers, the last few weeks have been more of a frantic pace.  Last Friday I posted that the Galaxy Note 5 on Verizon was seeing the latest version of Android start to roll and today the carrier along with competitor T-Mobile have begun the release of Marshmallow the HTC One M8.

HTC Marshmallow Updates Coming To Many Next Week

Owners of the HTC One M8 and One M9 have a lot to look forward to next week according to Mo Versi, the company’s Vice President of Product Management.  In a series of Tweets over the weekend, he announced that the One M9 running on Rogers, Sacktel, Videotron and Wind in Canada will see the Android Marshmallow update hit their devices this week.

The news is certainly welcome and is another example of how HTC is really pushing to get the latest version of Android out to devices quickly.  We all know that the unlocked One A9 receives updates within 15 days of their release from Google.  The company however committed to having updates out for the One M8 and One M9 in the first quarter of 2016.  Looks like they will reach that goal in the first month of the quarter.

There is some good news for those of you based in the US as well on updates.
