Microsoft has released the all new Movie Creator app for Windows Phone which is aimed at making video creation quick and easy with an intuitive user experience. The app, which is free, is technically a beta app so if you are one who avoids beta software, you may want to wait a few months before it is generally available. That said, having had a go with the app this morning, it is stable.
The idea behind the Movie Creator app is straight-forward. It allows you to add photos, videos, music and cinemagraphs from your Windows Phone to create a sharable video. You select a theme, add your content, select a background music and you are done. That ease of use however doesn’t sacrifice features. You can edit the videos you are creating any way you want by re-arranging
photos or videos in the video you are creating. In my testing this morning I found it to be surprisingly feature rich and certainly more than what similar free apps can provide you.
While the app certainly won’t replace all-powerful video editing apps on your PC, Movie Creator is certainly powerful enough for quick videos while you are on-the-go or even on holiday and want to share immediately from your Windows Phone. It works amazingly well on a large screen device because you have just a little more pallet to work with but works just fine on smaller devices just-the-same.
There is no word on when the Movie Creator app will be out of beta but I would guess a few months based on previous experience.
