Today’s Deal: Nokia 6 with 3GB RAM & 32GB Storage for $229

Today’s Deal is on the new Nokia 6 from HMD Global.  The 5.5″ Full HD phone with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable memory is now available on Amazon for $229.  This is fully unlocked and works on GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile and does not have the Amazon Prime adverts on the lock screen.  If you don’t mind those ads, you can save a bit of money as the price goes down to $179.  The 6 has been available in other regions for a few months now but has finally made its way to US shores via Amazon and for a sub-$250 phone, it’s got a lot to offer.

It is powered by the Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz.  It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage on board.  That storage can be expanded up to an additional 128GB thanks to the MicroSD slot.  It has a 5.5″ 2.5D Full HD display coupled with Dolby Atmos sound with 7.2W of output.  It has a a 16MP rear facing camera and 8MP selfie camera with the rear camera having a dual-tone flash for warmer flash photos.

The Nokia 6 has a built-in fingerprint scanner as you would expect on most 2017 phones and is running Android Nougat 7.1 so

you get all of the benefits of that build of Android along with a great phone.

As I mentioned earlier, the 6 is sold unlocked and supports GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile.  Unfortunately for those of you on Sprint, US Cellular or Verizon, this phone won’t work for you.  Here is the rundown of supported bands and frequencies

  • GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
  • LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 28(700), 38(2600), 40(2300)

The question for many will be if to save the money and get the Prime version of the phone with adverts & offerings or the cleaner, more expensive non-Prime version.  It really comes down to two things:  If you are a heavy user of Amazon Prime services like Music, Photos and Music, get the Prime version as all of the apps are pre-installed and you will be good-to-go out of the box.  If you don’t use a lot of Prime services, then the non-Prime version probably makes more sense.  In either case, you are getting the same phone.

The Nokia 6 is available in Copper, Black, Blue and Silver with the Blue and Silver flavors only available in the non-Prime configuration.

Head over to the Nokia 6 page over at Amazon to get the details and to order yours.
