Microsoft is Selling the Cortana Powered Harman Kardon Invoke for $99

If you missed out on picking up the beautifully styled Harman Kardon Invoke, powered by Microsoft Cortana, for $99 this past holiday season, now is your time.  Right now at the Microsoft Store you can pick one up for that special price, saving $100 in the process.

I posted my review of the Invoke in December and as I put in that review, it is one of the most stylish smart speakers out there with stunning audio quality as you would expect from Harman Kardon.  At the heart of the Invoke is Microsoft Cortana which, much like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, is a voice command away to help you with tasks or get information.

Like Your Ultra Thin Google Pixelbook? You Can in Part Thank Steve Jobs

If you like your ultra thin Google Pixelbook or any ultra thin laptop for that matter, you have in part to thank Steve Jobs and Apple.  10 years ago today, Apple introduced the Macbook Air.  It was a radical departure from what laptop design, including Apple themselves, had been to that point.  Sporting a single USB-A port, headphone jack and power connector, the Macbook Air ditched all the conventional things at the time like a DVD drive and spinning hard disks internally.  It also introduced a multi-touch touchpad.

Instead, Apple moved to SSD drives internally and ditched the DVD drive altogether, seeing a future where they simply wouldn’t be needed.  They were right as we know now ten years on but at the time, it was radical thinking.

Microsoft Outlook Update Brings Improved Spam Folder Cleaning

A new update to Microsoft Outlook for Android is rolling out, bringing a new one-tap handling of spam email and your junk folder.  The updated build is version 2.2.88 for those keeping score at home and is in the process of rolling out to the Google Play Store.

With this update, you will now be able to mark a message as spam when it comes into your inbox as well as empty your junk mail folder with a single tap.  Previously if you wanted to do this, it involved marking the message and then having to navigate to your junk mail folder to delete the message for good.  Microsoft has now streamlined it, making it faster and easier.

HTC U11 EYEs Officially Announced

After virtually all of the details about the device were leaked last week, including on HTC’s own site over the weekend, the Taiwanese company has made the new HTC U11 EYEs mid-range phone official.  Priced at roughly $500 US, the phone is now available for pre-order within Taiwan with it remaining unclear what future expansion globally the U11 EYEs will see.

As for the phone itself, it looks very similar to the flagship U11 device from HTC.  Constructed of aluminum and glass, the U11 EYEs is powered by the Snapdragon 652 SoC and is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.  That storage can be expanded up to 2TB thanks to the MicroSD/second SIM tray in the phone.  Display wise, it has a 6″ FullHD Super LCD 3 display that renders at 2160 x 1080, giving a comfortable ~402 ppi.  It also has Edge Sense like the other U11 phones, giving you the ability to squeeze the edge of the phone to perform certain tasks.

LG G6 on T-Mobile Receiving the December ’17 Android Security Update Patch

Owners of the LG G6 on T-Mobile should be seeing an update over the course of the next few days on the device.  The update is build H87211g for those keeping score at home.  According to the release notes, it was published on January 9th.

The release notes only indicated that the update brings Software stability and bug fixes so it is pretty generic on what, if anything, was addressed beyond the updating of the Android Security Update patch.  Still, users are encouraged to download the update and get it installed if for only the security patch update.
