Star Wars: The Force Awakens Digital Version Available Today

Today is a good day Star Wars fans and no it is not an April’s Fool joke!  If you pre-ordered your copy of Star Wars: The Force Awakens from the Google Play Movies & TV store, it should be in your Google account this morning.  The worldwide release of the digital versions of the blockbuster happens today and with the movie already setting box office records, there is little doubt that the digital and physical media version (which come out next week) will do just as well for Disney.

Google Wallet Officially Kills Their Physical Card

File this one under “Not Shocked”.  Google Wallet sent out an email to users today letting them know that as of June 30th of this year, the physical card associated with the service will no longer be supported.

After careful consideration, we’ve decided that we’ll no longer support the Wallet Card as of June 30. Moving forward, we want to focus on making it easier than ever to send and receive money with the Google Wallet app.

Given all of the changes that have been made by Google on payments and money transfers with Wallet and with Android Pay, the news was somewhat expected and had been rumored over the course of the past week.

Amazon Sale on SanDisk 200GB MicroSD Back On!

Back in February I posted about a sale that Amazon was running on the SanDisk 200GB MicroSD card.  At the time, the price had dropped from $249.99 to $89.99 which was a huge savings.  Now you can pick up the same card for just $79.99 at the online retailer.   These cards are compatible with Android devices (assuming you have a MicroSD expansion slot) but you will want to check the maximum size your particular phone or tablet can handle.  It is a great deal on a great card that is tough to pass up for sure.

Angry Birds Seasons Gets Another New Season Added

The Angry Birds franchise is still going strong and one of the first games in the series, Angry Birds Seasons, has just been updated once again.  Angry Birds Seasons is updates about 4 times a year, around particular seasons or events.  The latest update is a new chapter titled Marie Hamtoinette which brings a whole set of new levels and brings the episode count in the app up to 26 in total.  Not bad at all and with over 2 billion downloads, clearly the game has been and remains a hit.

LG G4 32GB Unlocked Down to $299 on Amazon

Over at Amazon, they are running a great deal on last year’s LG G4.  Currently you can pick up the 32GB model of the G4, unlocked, for $299.99.  That’s 48% off of the regular price of $579.99.  Sure it’s last year’s phone and sure it has been replaced with the new G5, but spec wise the G4 is rock solid and at this price, is a pretty good deal.  The LG G4 has a 5.5″ display, a MicroSD slot and a 16MP Camera.  It is definitely not a slouch.

OnePlus 2 Makes Preview of Marshmallow Based OxygenOS Available

It has taken a long time but for those who have the OnePlus 2, your wait for Android Marshmallow is coming to an end.  OnePlus today announced that a preview of OxygenOS 3.0, the Marshmallow based OS running on the 2, is now available for download for members of the community who want to try it.  The preview means that it is still in beta and it is possible (likely) that you will run into issues if you decide to load it on your device.  If you use your OnePlus 2 as your daily driver, it may be best to wait until the software is released to the general public.

Nextbit Robin Upcoming Update Brings Camera Updates

For those who have a Nextbit Robin, April is going to be a fun month for you.  The company took to Twitter and Periscope and announced that a new build of Android Marshmallow will be coming to the device along with some fixes around the camera app in the device.  The startup company indicated that the update will be based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 but there is no indication at which security patch will be included in the update.  Hopefully it will have at least the March update but by the time the update is released, the April patch could well be included.
