Google Sheets Gets A Professional Financial Statement Template

If you run a business or are responsible for creating Financial Statements, life just got a little bit easier for you.  The Google Apps team has announced that a new Financial Statement template is available in Google Sheets, both for the web and mobile versions of the app.  The template comes from the accounting software company Xero and is designed to take your inputs and generate the statements.

Simply access the Financial statements template from the Sheets homescreen, and get started by entering and categorizing your business transactions. The template will automatically update charts and graphs illustrating your company’s sales, expenses, revenue, and more.

This template should speed things up a lot of Google Sheets users who need to make these financial statements.

The Weather Channel Update Adds A New Forecast for Runners

The latest update to The Weather Channel app for Android brings a new forecast feature for those who like to run or walk.  The new GoRun forecast gives you current conditions as well as conditions later on in the day or the next day so you can plan your walk or run accordingly.  The forecast gives you a 1-10 scale with 10 being the best time to run based on the weather forecast that includes precipitation, humidity and air quality.  This new forecast is found by scrolling down to the bottom of the main forecast display on the app, just below the radar section.

Fans of Major League Soccer, there is an update of the MLS app waiting for you.  The updated app, version 7.3 for those keeping score at home, brings several new features and updates.  The biggest of those updates is information and details about the upcoming All-Star game in San Jose.  That match happens on July 28th and is against the English Premier League team, Arsenal.  Now the app provides you more details and information about the game including roster information.  When the match is ongoing, you’ll be able to get play-by-play details of the match on your phone just like you do normal MLS matches.

Angry Birds 2 Turns One – Celebrates with Hats!

A year ago the much anticipated sequel to Angry Birds hit the Google Play Store.  Angry Birds 2 is an updated and dare-I-say smoother game playing experience than the original and it has been a big hit for developer Rovio.  To celebrate the first “DirdDay”, there are all new levels, features and of course, hats.  Birthdays require hats right?  Angry Birds are no different and in this update that is out, you can collect hats to dress up your birds and, in turn, level up your slingshot.

For those of you who have installed the ClintonFitch.com app on your Android devices (and Thank You!), there is a new update out this morning.  The update, version 6.0.1 for those keeping score at home, is mostly aimed at improving performance on older devices.  If you have a device running on KitKat then you should see some stability and speed improvements with this new build.  Given that 33% of all of the installs of the app are on KitKat, that should be a big improvement for a good percentage of you.

PayPal Update Lets You Donate to Charities Within The App

The PayPal app for Android has been updated with several new features for users.  One of the key new features is the ability to donate to hundreds of charities across the United States right from within the app.  On the home page of the app you will now see a new Donate section.  Tap this and you will see a searchable list of charities and organizations you can support through the app.  Find the one you want to support then tap the donate button to send funds to that organization.  It is quick and easy and allows you to get funds to the organizations you want to support quickly.  One note is that, for now, this feature only works in the United States.

Google Weather Now Show Hourly Wind and Rain Forecasts

For those of you who use Google Weather on your Android phone, there is a small but nice update that has happened behind-the-scenes for the feature.  In addition to the hourly temperature forecasts, you also now get a wind and precipitation forecast in the information card.  If you aren’t familiar with what I’m referring to as Google Weather, it is something that is found on phones by simply doing a search for weather on your phone.  When you do that, your phone will pull up the local weather information in an applet that launches in Google Search.  While there is nothing to install, you can have the applet store your weather information for other cities too.

Google Fit Sees A Major UI Revamp

Google Fit, Google’s fitness tracking app, has received a major update that brings an all-new user experience.  For all intents and purposes, the whole app looks completely new with far more detail on the main page of the app along with more granular historical data.  Gone is the large circular indicator of steps and exercise and replacing it is a cleaner UI with your active minutes, distance, calories burned and steps across the top of the page while more detailed information is found in sections below.  This information not only shows you which days of the week you hit your step count goal, but also your activity goal and a clean, easy-to-read graph of your weight with a trend line.
