Security Update Comes to The Galaxy S7 Lineup on T-Mobile

If you are on the T-Mobile network and have a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, you will want to check for a small but important security update that has been released by the carrier.  The update brings a security fix to the device although the details of exactly what was fixed is not explicitly laid out in the release notes.  It isn’t the May Android Security update as that came earlier in the month so this is a separate fix from that release.  On the Galaxy S7, you are looking for build G930TUVS3APD8 while on the S7 Edge, you will want to look for build G935TUVU3APD8.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Starts Seeing Android Marshmallow on T-Mobile

Good news Samsung Galaxy S5 users who are on T-Mobile:  Android Marshmallow is coming your way.  T-Mobile has updated the Software support page for the Galaxy S5 on their support site and have indicated that the update to the latest version of Android is starting to roll out to devices today.  The builds you are looking for are G900T3UVU1GPE1 OR G900TUVU1GPE1 depending on your device model and when you update, you will be moved to Marshmallow 6.0.1.  You will also need to download the update over Wi-Fi as it weighs in at just over 1GB in size.

Original NVIDIA Shield Tablet Gains Android Marshmallow Update

The original NVIDIA Shield Tablet has been issued a major update that brings, amongst other things, Android Marshmallow 6.0.1.  The update is identical to the update that was released a few weeks back for the Shield Tablet K1 and it has all of the same updates in that release.  With the update to Marshmallow, you will have the March Security update for the OS as well.  The update is a hefty one at around 1GB so expect the download to take a few minutes and the update in total to take about 30 minutes.

HTC One M8 and M9 Marshmallow Update Starts Tomorrow on AT&T

After months of delays, the Android Marshmallow update for the HTC One M8 and One M9 is finally coming to those on AT&T.  HTC’s Mo Versi tweeted yesterday that the software update had finally been approved and would start hitting devices tomorrow, May 12th.

While it is not expect that every M8 or M9 will see the update tomorrow, it should come to you as an OTA update over the course of the next week or so.  Once you have it, all of the goodness that is Android Marshmallow will be there for you.

Google Adds OTA Images for Nexus Devices To Developer Site

Google has made a small but important update to the Android Developer site that brings the OTA images of the latest updates to Android Marshmallow for Nexus devices which can be downloaded.  Before now, Google has had the full images of updates available for Nexus owners to update their devices but it required a full install and subsequent reset of their devices.  Now developers and users who like to flash their devices manually can do just the OTA update instead of having to do a full reset of their device.

T-Mobile Rolls Out Android Marshmallow To The LG G3

For those of you who have the excellent LG G3 on the T-Mobile network, today is a great day.  The carrier has started pushing out the Android Marshmallow update to the device, bringing it up to version 6.0 of Android and all the goodness that the release has in it.  The updated version you are looking for is build H63120b and while T-Mobile on their support page do not given an indication of size, if other updates are any indication, you can expect about a 1GB download from Lollipop to Marshmallow.  That means you will need to be on Wi-Fi to download it and you can expect the total update time to take about 30 minutes.
