T-Mobile Finally Rolls Out Android Oreo for The LG G6

T-Mobile has become the last US carrier to release the Android Oreo update for the LG G6.  Build H87220a rolled out to a small group of users last week but has now begun rolling out broadly to T-Mobile customers with the 2017 flagship phone.

To check for the update, go to Settings>About Phone>Update Center>System Update and check for the update there.  Keep in mind that it is still rolling out so it could well take another day or two before it lands on your phone.

T-Mobile, who generally is one of the first to release software updates, has taken their time on this one.  AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon have all released the update, in some cases nearly two months ago, so it is unclear why it took T-Mobile so long.

LineageOS 15.1 Brings Android Oreo 8.1 to The OnePlus One

When the OnePlus One, the first phone from OnePlus, was released back in 2014, it was an almost instant hit.  The price for what you got in the phone was hard to beat and it had almost a cult-like following from fans.  But, like all manufactures, OnePlus eventually dropped support for the phone as new models were released.  In other words, there was no chance it would ever see Android Oreo 8.1.

Fast forward to 2018 and the OnePlus One lives on.  LineageOS, the company that rose from the ashes of CyanogenMod (which is what was originally running on the OnePlus One ironically), has just added support of Android Oreo 8.1 for the OPO along with a handful of other devices.  The support comes to LineageOS 15.1, the build which is based on Oreo 8.1.

AT&T Begins Rolling Out Android Oreo to The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active

Good news this morning for those of you who have the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active on the AT&T network.  Your Android Oreo 8.0 update is now starting to roll out.  The update, according to AT&T, is build R16NW.G891AUCU3CRE7 and it is about 1.5GB in size.   The update brings the April Android Security Update and is version 8.0 of Oreo, not the more current 8.1.

Fundamentally, the update is the same that has been rolling out on AT&T, Verizon and Sprint for the normal Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge which brings all the Oreo updates along with the new Samsung Experience 9 user experience.

Sprint Beings Rolling Out Android Oreo to The Samsung Galaxy S7 Lineup

Following the release of Android Oreo on AT&T and Verizon, Sprint has now begun rolling out the update to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge on their network.  The updated build is R16NW.G93xPVPU6CRE7 and it comes in at a 1.7GB on the download.  The update has been released by Sprint so you should see it at any point if not already.

Essentially, the update is the same that was pushed out to AT&T and Verizon customers.  It brings the April Android Security Update Patch and all of the goodness that comes with Android Oreo.  It also brings the new Samsung Experience 9 user interface and experience to the 2016 flagship.

Deal – Huawei Mate 10 Pro Down to $549, Its Lowest Price Ever

Huawei has lowered the price of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro for the next couple of weeks and now is the time to seriously consider it.  Normally the 6″ phablet is $799 now through June 30th you can pick one up on Amazon for just $549.  And this isn’t a stripped down version either.  It has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage.  The $549 price represents the lowest price by far that has been available on the Mate 10 Pro here in the US.

reviewed the Huawei Mate 10 Pro earlier this year and as I put in that review, it is one of the best phones out there right now.  Huawei has done a fantastic job with the overall design of the phone and the Android Oreo built EMUI 8 user experience is excellent.

AT&T Now Rolling Out The Oreo for The Samsung Galaxy S7 Lineup

Let’s see if this one sticks, shall we?  Last week, Verizon began rolling out the Android Oreo update for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge on their network.  Then they pulled it.  Then they released it again.  Then they pulled it again, apparently for good for the moment.  That cause a lot of confusion and got me a nice “FAKE NEWS” comment on the article.

Okay, so now A&T seems to be giving it a go and has released the update for the S7 lineup on their network.  Multiple sources are pointing to screenshots of the update rolling out which comes in at about 1.7GB.  But, to this point, AT&T has not updated the support pages for either device.

[Update – Upgrade Delayed] Verizon Begins Android Oreo Update Rollout for The Samsung Galaxy S7 Lineup

[Update:  Verizon has pulled the update twice now and it looks like it is on hold]

Good news this morning for Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners on Verizon, Android Oreo is on its way.  The carrier has released the update to Oreo on their network with it rolling out to owners over the course of the next several days.  The update for each device is around 1.2GB in size so you will want to make sure you download them via WiFi.

For the Samsung Galaxy S7, you are looking for software update NRD90M.G930VVRS4BRC3 while on the S7 Edge, NRD90M.G935VVRS4BRC3 is the Oreo update for you.

Android Oreo Update for the LG G6 on AT&T Now Rolling Out

Following the release of Android Oreo for the LG G6 on Verizon and Sprint, AT&T has now begun rolling out the update to the phone on their network.  The carrier hasn’t updated their support page for the phone just yet but it should be the same build that hit the other two carriers.

Assuming that is the case, you can expect an update of around 1.8GB in size so it is certainly one you will want to download while you are on WiFi.  You’ll also need at least 80% battery remaining on your G6 before you can install the update.  Along with all the Android Oreo goodies that come with the update, you will be getting the May 2018 Android Security Update patch for your G6 too.
